Hyderabad: Tech behemoth Amazon Web Services (AWS) will invest Rs 60,000 crore to expand its data centres infrastructure in Telangana and Infosys will be expanding its operations in Hyderabad.
Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu had a major breakthrough in their meeting senior executives from AWS at the World Economic Forum, 2025, meeting when the tech behemoth agreed to invest Rs 60,000 crore in data centres in Telangana. The AWS side was represented by Michael Punke, Vice President, Global Public Policy.
AWS has so far developed three sites in the state with an investment of around US $1 billion. These three centres are already operational. AWS has requested the government for facilitating allocation of additional land for their expansion plans, for which the government agreed. Amazon, with its expansion plans, is committed to supporting the digital ambitions of Telangana.
The leaders discussed the Telangana government’s supportive role in creating a welcoming environment for establishing data center infrastructure in the state, and the strategic importance of the state for AWS’s operations in India. Telangana is an integral component of AWS’s strategy in India.
AWS will be expanding its data centres in Hyderabad in a big way with plans for fresh investment of around Rs 60000 crores. With this AWS Region in Hyderabad will play an increasingly important role in supporting AWS’s growth of cloud services in India, including AI in the future.
AWS had earlier announced to invest $4.4billion by 2030 to develop its cloud infrastructure in Telangana.
Infosys to expand operations
Infosys will expand its operations in Hyderabad. The Government of Telangana and Infosys Limited have agreed to further strengthen their strategic partnership with the expansion of Infosys’ IT campus at Pocharam in Hyderabad. The announcement was made at the World Economic Forum in Davos following the meeting of Infosys CFO Jayesh Sanghrajka with the IT Minister D Sridhar Babu.
The expansion plans will create additional 17,000 jobs in the Pocharam Campus where Infosys already employs over 35000 jobs making it one of their largest in the country. Construction of new IT buildings in phase 1 with investment of Rs 750 crores will be completed in next 2-3 years that will accommodate 10000 people
“Our partnership with the Government of Telangana reflects our shared vision of driving innovation, empowering communities, and strengthening the IT landscape,” said Jayesh Sanghrajka.
Tillman signs MoU
Also government of Telangana has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tillman Global Holdings, a US-based company, to develop a Rs 15,000 crore, 300 MW state-of-the-art data center facility in Hyderabad.
The proposed data centers will cater to hyperscale clients and support AI-driven applications, cloud services, and large-scale data processing. The facility will incorporate energy-efficient systems, advanced cooling technologies, and robust cybersecurity measures, fostering innovation in Telangana’s digital ecosystem.
