B G Srinivas, President and Member of the Board of IT bellwether Infosys has resigned, the company announced on Wednesday.
This the tenth top-level exit in the company over the past one year since Executive Chairman and co-founder N R Narayana Murthy’s return at the helm of the company.
Srinivas was said to be among the leading contenders for the post of chief executive officer of the company after current incumbent S D Shibulal retires in January 2015.
B G Srinivas said, “My tenure at Infosys has been one of my most rewarding experiences, and I am proud to have contributed to the best growth story in the industry. I wish the Board and Infosys the best of success in the future.”
Infosys said that the resignation of Srinivas will be effective June 10, 2014. Infosys Executive Chairman Narayana Murthy said in a statement that Srinivas has been an integral part of Infosys and played an important role in the company’s growth.
“The board and every Infoscion thanks B G Srinivas for his wonderful contribution and wish him great success in his future endeavours,” Murthy said.
Infosys CEO S D Shibulal said that Srinivas had played a pivotal role in building the Enterprise Solutions Unit of Infosys, as well as strengthening its European business and driving growth in key business verticals.
Srinivas and U B Pravin Rao, both Presidents and Board Members of the company, were considered to have been handpicked for further grooming for the job of CEO once CEO Shibulal retires.
Former Chief Financial Officer V Balakrishnan, was understood to be another contender for the top job, but quit in December last year to pursue his political aspirations.
