The new service, called ‘e-services on wheels’, will provide all 29 services offered through ‘Bangalore one’ centres. It will be launched on a public- private partnership model (PPP), for which the partner is expected to be finalised in a fortnight.

‘E-services on wheels’ is a mobile van which will visit all BBMP wards in the City wherein people can pay their mobile bills and other bills including water and electricity bills. This apart, there are more than 20 e-governance projects on which government will spend around Rs 200 crore this year. It will float tender to set up a new state data centre worth about RS 600-700 million.

“We are at the final stages of floating the tenders to set up a new secretariat local area network (LAN) connecting the various departments and the new facility can meet the various needs of departments for the next 10 years,” said Pincipal Secretary E-governance M N Vidyashankar. 

The Karnataka state area network (KSWAN) test run is now on and final acceptance of test is scheduled for September-end and will be launched next month, he said. The government is also in the process of revamping Nemmadi project. By September 2010, 12 departments in Karnataka will be covered under the project paper-less office (PLO). The e-governance secretariat is floating a request for proposal (RFP) for setting up citizen service centres (CSC) in rural areas for providing various services, so that common man’s needs are made available easier.
