Bengaluru: Pralhad Joshi, Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution of India, on Thursday said that the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) is investigating “other apps” including Ola and Rapido.
This comes a day after Joshi took cognisance and asked the CCPA to look into Uber’s practice of asking users for tips in advance for faster ride service.
“They will also be served notice if they are found indulging in such practices,” said Joshi on X, referring to apps including Ola and Rapido.
He said this in response to a user’s post asking him to take issue with apps beyond Uber when it comes to asking for advanced tips.
Such ride aggregator apps often ask for tips right away, with suggested tip amounts even reaching around Rs 50.
