Bengaluru: Poddar Plumbing Systems Private Limited, a manufacturer of CVC and PVC pipes, is setting up a new manufacturing plant at Vemagal at an investment of Rs 758 crore to manufacture a range of pipes. The company has acquired 33 acres of land from KIADB in Vemagal's industrial park phase-2. The new factory will commence operations by August 2026, Large and Medium Industries Minister M B Patil said.
The company's Managing Director Deepak Poddar and Director Varun Poddar met Patil here on Tuesday and sought approval to raise investment in this project. The company sought permission to increase its investment from an earlier estimate of Rs 492 crore to Rs 758 crore. Once completed, the new factory will create 3,000 direct jobs and 9,000 indirect jobs over the next 10 years.
The company has earmarked Rs 93 crore for construction of the factory and Rs 578 crore for machinery and capital expenditure. The factory construction work has already commenced at Vemagal, Patil said.
Deepak Poddar said the company plans to set up a second factory in Vijayapura district after the completion of its factory in Vemagal. At its factory in Vemagal, they will manufacture a diverse range of high-quality PVC pipes and fittings, including CPVC and UPVC pipes for plumbing, water distribution, agricultural pipes for irrigation, and industrial pipes for transporting chemicals and gases.
Founded by the promoters of Ashirvad Pipes, the company expects to achieve a turnover of Rs 1,500 crore within ten years. The project is also expected to generate tax revenues of approximately Rs 3,000 crore for the government during the same period.
