Bengaluru: It will be a year of evolution for quick commerce in 2025, as it scales up to the levels of e-commerce and it will not be an easy game. In a post on the social media platform - LinkedIn, Zepto’s co-founder Aadit Palicha observed, “In 2025, it will become more clear that quick commerce requires exceptional execution to succeed and it will be challenging for every single player to deliver that level of execution.”

The CEO of Nexus Venture Partners-backed company also pointed to the tight competition in the market as a customer value proposition. He also talked of the industry’s access to the capital market (both private and public)that has changed as compared to the previous two years. Swiggy’s initial public offering(IPO) and Zepto’s own raising of $340 million from investors are cases in point. These exposures also had a bearing on the way Indians shop, turning them more time sensitive.

Meanwhile, New Year’s Eve turned out to be one of the busiest nights for the rapid delivery platforms. Swiggy logged the largest order from Goa with a bill of Rs 70,325. For Blinkit it came from Kolkata where it got a singular Rs 65,000 party-order.

"As smaller towns join metro cities in embracing fast, convenient deliveries, we’ve started seeing an early rise in demand, particularly for large orders of snacks, drinks, party decor, and glam essentials," said Amitesh Jha, CEO, Swiggy Instamart.

Indians snacked heavily on the last day of the year with snack items like chips, cold drinks, and soda flying off the virtual shelves as the most sold items. Items like premium potato chips and nachos were party staples, with sales spiking over 300%, for Swiggy Instamart.

Bengaluru emerged as the city which tipped the most at Rs 1,79,735 on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Hyderabad gave the highest tip of the day Rs 2,500 to one of the delivery partners.

The year’s data released by food delivery aggregator Zomato showed Delhi-NCR yielding the highest orders at Rs 12.4 crore, which topped the combined orders of Rs 10.5 crore logged by Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana in 2024.

While Bengaluru placed 30 lakh more orders than Mumbai, the latter tipped Rs 3 crore more. Deepinder Goyal-led Zomato got the most cake orders on a non-festive day on September 22.
