Bengaluru: Wipro Infrastructure Engineering (WIN) on Monday announced a new business division, Wipro Electronic Materials, focused on manufacturing high-performance base materials for Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs). The company has set up a new factory at Doddaballapur to manufacture Copper Clad Laminates (CCL) at an investment of Rs 500 crore, which is set to begin production in 2026.
The company has acquired 19 acres at Doddaballapur for setting up the plant. The plant will produce over 6 million sheets of copper-clad laminates, and corresponding prepreg materials, which will generate approximately 350 jobs, Neeraj Pandita, Founder & Co-CEO, Wipro Electronic Materials.
To begin with, he said the company will sell its products in the domestic market and export up to 50% of the production to SouthEast Asia, Korea, the US, and Europe over the next five years. Currently, copper clad laminates are imported by user industries in India. It is widely used in the manufacture of printed circuit boards used in various electronics industries. The market potential is Rs 600 crore and is expected to double in the next two years, Pandita told DH.
"The electronics manufacturing sector is facing a critical supply chain challenge, with 100% of copper-clad laminates currently imported. Wipro Electronic Materials is proud to bridge this gap by producing high-quality base materials locally. This strengthens our ability to serve key sectors like telecom, automotive, consumer electronics, and AI—while positioning Wipro as a supplier focussed on serving global customers and OEMs,” he said.
This strategic investment marks a step toward building a resilient, innovation-led electronics manufacturing ecosystem in India—supporting fast-growing sectors such as telecommunications, automotive electronics, consumer devices, industrial systems, and AI infrastructure.
Pratik Kumar, CEO, Wipro Infrastructure Engineering (WIN) & MD, Wipro Enterprises, said: “Wipro Electronic Materials investment in India’s electronics manufacturing landscape is made possible through the timely support of the Government of Karnataka and MeitY. This facility reflects our strategic vision to build future-ready capabilities and enable India to play a larger role in the global electronics technology ecosystem."
