In order to enhance UPI's stability and efficiency, the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has announced that several changes will made to the instant payment system effective August 1.
The revised guidelines won't affect an individual's day-to-day small transactions but will introduce certain barriers to UPI's procedures. The NPCI has undertaken these measures so that the users don't face anymore disruptions during their transactions.
By limiting and putting barriers, the load will be taken of the instant payment services and there will less disruptions and less chance of any mishap to take place.
In order to put less pressure on the Application Programming Interfaces (API) system, users will now be able to check their bank balance only 50 times a day on each UPI app.
A user can only retrieve information regarding their bank accounts linked to the mobile number 25 times a day.
Automatic or scheduled payments like Netflix, Spotify or mutual funds will occur during non-traffic hours before 10 am, between 1 pm and 5 pm, or after 9:30 pm.
If a transaction is pending, the user will be allowed to check its status only three times, with a mandatory 90-second gap between each attempt.
