India and Slovenia have signed a protocol to amend the bilateral double taxation avoidance agreement (DTAA) that will facilitate exchange of information to curb tax evasion.
The 2 countries signed the protocol amending the existing convention and protocol for avoidance of double taxation and prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income on May 17, in Ljubljana.
The development comes close on the heels of a similar amendment signed between India and Mauritius in their tax treaty to give India the right to tax capital gains on investments from that country. The protocol was signed by Sarvajit Chakravarti, Ambassador of India to Slovenia on behalf of India and Dusan Mramor, the Slovenian Minister of Finance on behalf of Slovenia.
