Infosys, country's second largest IT services provider has committed to provide 1,000 more jobs in the US.
Amidst the rising concern about the H-1B Visa allocation process, the IT major said that it will establish its US Education Center in Indianapolis to train American workers and arm them with skills for the digital future.
With hiring of 1,000 more people in Indianapolis, the company has expanded its hiring plans for Indiana from 2,000 to 3,000 new jobs by the end of 2023.
The company plans to make an initial investment of $35 million to create the first 125,000 sq feet of development at the 70.5-acre site in the old Indianapolis airport terminal.
Infosys is expected to break ground on this initial phase before the end of 2018 and anticipates its completion by the end of 2020. The initial phase will comprise of a training center and will accommodate a 250-person residential facility. The center is also expected to serve as a hub for development of next-generation digital technologies.
"Our new Indianapolis facility will prepare our American employees—and those of our clients—to master the kinds of advanced skills that are now required to succeed in our digital future,” Ravi Kumar, President, Infosys said.
Earlier last year, the Bengaluru-based company had committed to create 10,000 jobs in US by 2023.
This week in an analyst call, company’s COO UB Pravin Rao reaffirmed companies stress on hiring more people in order to fill in the talent gap created out of changing technological scenario.
