Pune’s Kinetic Group has entered into an exclusive partnership with Italian superbike company MV Agusta to launch its superbikes in India.

This partnership will mark Kinetic Group’s re-entry into the two-wheeler market. The company, which had started its two-wheeler business by selling the Luna in 1976, had sold off its two-wheeler business assets to the Mahindra Group in 2008. Unveiling the plans for the company, MV Agusta India managing director Ajinkya Firodia said, “The bikes will be available through the Motoroyale dealerships across the country. Our plan is to open 7 showrooms this year, and add another 4-6 showrooms next year.”

Following Pune, Motoroyale dealerships will soon be inaugurated in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi and Mumbai. Motoroyale showrooms will focus on sales, service, spares and after sales support for MV Agusta customers in India. MV Agusta India will have the exclusive distribution rights for all MV Agusta motorcycles in India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, Firodia added.

The models which will be available in India currently include MV Agusta F4 (Rs 26.87 lakh, ex-showroom Pune), MV Agusta F4 RR (Rs 35.71 lakh, ex-showroom Pune), MV Agusta F3 (Rs 16.78 lakh, ex-showroom Pune) and MV AgustaBrutale 1090 (Rs 20.10 lakh, ex-showroom Pune).

As far as sales targets are concerned, Firodia said that the company is aiming for a 10% market share in the first year of operations. “The premium bike segment (Rs 15 lakh and above) is around 3,000 units per annum and we aim to have at least a 10% market share (300 units) in the first year itself,” Firodia said.

Next year we hope to sell 400-600 units, Firodia said, adding that the company will be doing semi knocked down (SKD) assembly for some of the bikes with an investment of Rs 5 crore with plans to do more completely knocked down (CKD) and local assembly going forward.
