In an effort to boost Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), the sector which generates huge employment for both skilled and unskilled labour, the government of India will launch a new national policy targeting MSMEs.
“Within 100 days, the Narendra Modi government will unveil the fist ever national policy on MSMEs,” Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilisers Ananth Kumar said.
Inaugurating the three-day exhibition IMS 2014 (India Manufacturing Show) and EMMA EXPO 2014 (Electronics Machinery Moulds Auto Parts) on Thursday, Kumar said, “Manufacturing is an area that holds a lot of promise in the country. If India has to become prosperous, the manufacturing sector should be given priority. We need to bridge the gap between small, medium and largescale industries and such expos are platforms to ensure wide scope for collaborations.”
On hurdles facing by new entrepreneurs, he said, “Single-window (clearance) should not become another window. State government should provide hassle free single-window clearances of land allotments for all projects.”
Taking the example of BJP-ruled states like Gujarat, Chattisgarh, MP, Rajasthan and Goa, who are taking part in expo, Kumar exhorted that the state government should have participated in expo in a big way. It should be beyond politics when it comes to the progress of the country. “I think we need to rise above politics... there is no politics in nation building.”
He said that a tool room would be established in Bangalore and a textile cluster in Mysore. “As part of the Union Budget, the government of India had announced Rs 10,000 crore towards venture capital for new enterprises and startups. It is our job to create an environment that will ensure an inflow of Rs 1,000 crore to Bangalore and Karnataka, by supporting the starting of small and medium scale companies.”
Taiwan’s First Bilateral Trade Division Manager (Asia, Oceania and Middle East), Bureau of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Economic Affairs, Amelia W J Day said, “India perfectly complements Taiwan’s world class IT with its programming and coding technologies.”
