Nikon rolls out D5000 camera

The company has at present nine compact models ranging between Rs 7,500 to Rs 32,000, and seven SLR models ranging between Rs 36,000 to Rs 5.2 lakh in the Indian market.

On newer models for the Indian market, Nikon India Managing Director Hidehiko Tanaka said said “We are always working on bringing in new models and would continue to do so.”

According to Tanaka, although the Indian camera market is growing fast, it still constitutes less than one per cent of the total global market. In case of SLR cameras, the Indian market’s share is less than 0.1 per cent of the global total.
