Yoga guru Ramdev is spreading his business venture to the Northeast. Patanjali Ayurved, the FMCG venture promoted by him, on Saturday announced that it has a target to reach out to over 30 lakh shops and get into ecommerce business in a big way by next year.

The Haridwar-based firm is setting up a manufacturing plant in Assam’s Tezpur district. The Assam plant will come up with an investment of Rs 1,200 crore, and will have a manufacturing facility of 10 lakh metric tonnes (MT) per year, Ramdev said here on Saturday.

“This will be the largest facility of Patanjali in the country. Patanjali Herbal and Mega Food Park in Balipara in Assam will be fully operational by March next year,” he said.
Patanjali has around 50 manufacturing units across the country. “Our target is to create a production facility worth Rs 1 lakh crore in the next five years. Patanjali has around 5,000 retail outlets and its products are available in 10 lakh shops. We have a target to scale it up to 30 lakh shops by next fiscal,” Ramdev added.

Patanjali plans to enter ecommerce in a big way by next year. He has also decided to promote the sale of Assam’s silk and bamboo and cane products of Northeast.
