Pointing out that the firm had introduced its modular switches and Light Lounge –– its flagship retail store –– during the year, Philips Lighting Country Head Rajeev Chopra said “There is a huge untapped potential in complete lighting solutions space and you’ll find us making the most with innovation.”  For this, he said the firm is betting big on LED (light emitting diodes) technology.

While claiming that one out of every three CFL lamps (compact fluorescent lamps) sold are Philips, Chopra said there is a need to move forward from CFLs to LEDs. “LEDs are the future,” he said, adding that Philips is in the forefront of research to make this technology commercially viable.
