RLE India, a 100 per cent subsidiary of German-headquartered RLE International Group that offers engineering services to the international automotive industry, aims to increase its revenues from €5 million to €20 million in another five years.
Robert P Rupa, managing director and COO of RLE International, said on Friday that globally its revenues are €100 million, and it aims to double the revenue to €200 million by 2020. “India’s revenues will constitute 10 per cent of global revenues in 2020. We are celebrating our 10th anniversary in India, and in future one of the growth factors would be the Indian operations,” he said.
RLE International has 1,500 employees worldwide, and in India it has around 250 employees across its two centres in Bengaluru and Chennai. When asked about expansion plans, Rupa said plans are on to expand the number of centres.
Darren Gowland, Group Vice President International Operations, RLE International, said: “India is our centre of excellence. In case of manufacturing excellence projects wherever in the world, we do it in India.” From 250 at present, RLE aims to increase the manpower to 1,000 in another five years. RLE International is competent in automotive development, global projects, business services and consulting, and industry-specific engineering. Some of its customers include Jaquar, Land Rover, Porsche, Toyota, Ford, and Audi, among others.
In India, RLE product engineering looks at key business areas in vehicle and body, powertrain and chassis, and computer-aided engineering. Gowland says, “We are also into aerospace and transportation, among others. Out of €100 million revenues we get, almost €90 million are from automotive. In India, almost 100 per cent of revenues come from automotive.”
When asked about its competitors, Rupa said the company is one of the top 20 companies in its space globally. “We have more than 30 years of experience in engineering,” he said. The RLE Group also announced the appointment of Vijay Machigad as the new MD of RLE India.
