SAP eyes Indian PSU, e-governance market

SAP is one of several software and IT solutions vendors eager to tap into the growing e-governance sector in the country.

While providing residents of Indian metros with emergency response application, it is also working closely with one of the gram panchayats to provide “last mile” connectivitywith government database to help villages deliver schemes meant for citizens.

Briefing reporters, SAP Asia Pacific Japan Head Solutions Adale Fox Martin, said “our helpline app converts mobile phones into emergency response device. It collects data about the individual and creates a number which becomes the hot button.”

The company has been working on a pilot with Soda Village, Rajasthan, to provide a single window solution with the list of all schemes and plans meant for rural development. SAP India Managing Director Peter Gartenberg said “citizens can get their marriage and birth certificates at their door steps under this initiative.”

Amongst demonstrations included applications that would extend ERP and intelligence solutions from SAP to several mobile platforms.
