The post fell vacant after the retirement of R S Katoch, who was holding the additional charge as CMD. Katoch was also serving as Director (Personnel) at the company. R P Singh, who is currently the Director (Electrical), would assume the additional charge of CMD, the firm said in a statement.
"In addition, R P Singh will also hold the charge of Director (Personnel) till appointment of regular incumbents to the two positions," it added. Singh, who joined SJVN in late 2007, has been actively pursuing various expansion plans of the company.
According to the statement, Singh is actively engaged in implementing the transmission system for evacuation of power from the 900 MW Arun-III HE Project in Nepal to India through 315 kilometre-long transmission lines.
Prior to joining SJVN, Singh had worked for over 26 years at NEEPCO in various capacities. A joint venture between the Indian government and the Himachal Pradesh government, SJVN is mainly into hydroelectric power projects.
