The output stood at 18.8 LT in the same period last year, he said. “Mills produced only 17 LT of sugar in October-November of the 2009-10 season against 18.8 LT, as less rains in southern parts of the country affected sugar recovery and also farmer’s agitation in northern states delayed crushing,” Indian Sugar Mills Association (ISMA) acting Director General M N Rao told PTI .

Late rains in cane growing states of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra reduced sugar recovery.
