New Delhi: Transactions through various payment apps, like Paytm, Google Pay and PhonePe, based on the government-run Unified Payments Interface (UPI) platform, faced disruptions on Wednesday causing inconvenience to people across the country who depend on digital payments.
The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), which owns and operates the real-time payment system, said the problem was caused due to technical issues.
“NPCI had faced intermittent technical issues owing to which UPI had partial decline. The same has been addressed now and the system has stabilised. Regret the inconvenience,” the NPCI said in a post on X.
According to Downdetector, a crowdsourced platform that provides real-time information about service outages and disruptions for websites and apps, the highest number of users reported problems around 7:40 pm IST. The platform received complaints from 2,750 users. Around 83 per cent of these complaints were related to issues in making payments.
