While the petrol variant of New Polo is priced at Rs 4.34 lakh, the diesel variant 1.2L engine comes for Rs 5.32 lakh and the high-end variant available for Rs 6.7 lakh. All prices are ex showroom New Delhi. Four other variants of New Polo is slotted between these price-points. Briefing reporters Volkswagen Group Director (India Sales) Neeraj Garg pointed out that the launch reflects the firm’s commitment to India, while Chief General Manager (Marketing) Lutz Kothe observed that the car will set a benchmark in the segment.
He further said that deliveries of the new 1.2L 75HP New Polo petrol variant will begin from March 2010 onwards, while the 1.2L Diesel variant will be available for customers from May 2010.
To be manufactured at the firm’s Chakan plant the car comes in three trim levels Highline, Comfortline and Trendline and is paired with a 5-speed manual gear box.
