In a landmark move that reflects its continued growth and commitment to quality, Zamindar Microsurgical Eye Centre has inaugurated a dedicated OPD Block and Surgical Block at its Bengaluru facility. This expansion is designed to improve efficiency, streamline services, and offer a more advanced and seamless eye care experience. The new OPD Block is now solely dedicated to outpatient consultations, enabling quicker appointments, reduced waiting times, and smoother diagnostic workflows. Simultaneously, the existing infrastructure has been transformed into a state-of-the-art Surgical Block, focusing on cataract and other advanced eye surgeries with a fully optimised process flow.

“These changes reflect our long-term commitment to designing systems that are safe, responsive, and efficient,” said Dr. Samina Zamindar, Founder and Medical Director. “Every decision we make is about enhancing access to ethical, quality-driven care without compromise.” This infrastructure upgrade is part of a broader journey that began in 1997 when Dr. Zamindar, a skilled ophthalmologist with a systems-thinking approach, set out to create a safe, patient-first environment for eye care.

What began as a modest clinic in Jai Bharat Nagar in 1997 has now evolved into a trusted, multi-specialty eye care institution offering advanced services in cataract, retina, glaucoma, cornea, oculoplasty, and paediatric ophthalmology. Her focus has always remained unwavering — delivering ethical, systems-driven care rooted in clinical excellence and compassion.

A Timely Response to a Growing Crisis: The Myopia Care Clinic

Parallel to the infrastructure expansion, Zamindar Childrens Eye Centre recently launched a Myopia Care Clinic in response to the rising incidence of childhood myopia in India. By 2050, it’s projected that half of the global population will be myopic, with India facing a massive burden. Alarmingly, there are an estimated 2.7 to 3.2 lakh blind children in the country — half of whose vision loss is preventable with timely care. The new clinic focuses on awareness, early detection, lifestyle counselling, and evidence-based interventions to slow the progression of myopia. “We’re not just prescribing solutions — we’re educating and empowering families to protect their children’s long-term vision,” says Dr. Zamindar.

Scaling Quality Standards, Nationally and Beyond

Zamindar Microsurgical Eye Centre is one of the first five Eye Care Organisations (ECOs) in India to receive NABH accreditation — a milestone that underscores its unwavering commitment to clinical excellence and safety. As a registered NABH assessor, Dr. Zamindar has helped multiple hospitals across India adopt these protocols. In 2016, she founded “Eye for Quality”, a national training platform that has since empowered over 300 professionals across India through two-day workshops focused on patient safety, infection control, and incident reporting.

Her collaboration with Seva Foundation and her role in the Observe, Understand, and Change (OUC) program have helped to implement quality and safety protocols  in underserved regions of Nepal, Cambodia. Her instructional content has also won industry acclaim. Her video, “Comprehensive Guide to Safe Cataract Surgery”, was named Best Instructional Video at IIRSI Chennai in 2023, and her work “Hand Hygiene in Eye Care” was recognized at the South Asian Academy of Ophthalmology Conference in 2024

Service That Starts with Empathy

Even as she garners national awards — including “Young Quality Achiever,” “Innovator of the Year,” and received the prestigious National Health Care Excellence Award in the category ofPatient Friendly Hospital 2022by the Association of Healthcare Providers of India (AHPI). — Dr. Zamindar continues to anchor her work in service. Her clinics run free weekly OPDs, and her team regularly conducts vision screenings in under-resourced schools and communities.

In 2024, she launched the Dr. Zamindars Eye Foundation, a charitable initiative that provides free cataract surgeries, and screenings under its Vision for All program. Individuals can sponsor a complete surgery or support a child’s eye treatment for just ₹7,500. The Foundation also promotes a unique concept — celebrating birthdays or anniversaries by “gifting the joy of vision” to someone in need.

Where Empathy Meets Expertise

Dr. Zamindar’s work extends beyond surgery. From publishing training material and building safety systems to mentoring young professionals and influencing national guidelines, she is shaping the future of ophthalmology in India. Her belief is simple yet powerful: “When you give someone back their sight, you give them back their life.” With upgraded facilities, cutting-edge services, and a legacy of impact, Zamindar Microsurgical Eye Centre is not just expanding infrastructure — it is expanding what ethical, accessible, and
