For 19-year-old athlete Unnathi Aiyappa, a career in sports was almost destined. Born to Pramila Aiyappa, a legendary heptathlete who represented India in two Olympics and won medals at the Asian Games, and B.P. Aiyappa, an accomplished athlete and coach, Unnathi believes running is in her blood.
Emerging as a bold and determined athlete, Unnathi isn’t afraid to make decisions that shape her journey. After a lukewarm 2023, she bounced back with an extraordinary 2024, winning nine medals in just seven months across domestic and international events.
Now poised to compete in the seniors category, Unnathi is ready to take on a new challenge: transitioning from 200m hurdles to the demanding 400m hurdles.
