The National Democratic Alliance of BJP, JD(U) and other parties is set to form the government yet again in Bihar following a landslide win in the 2025 Assembly election.

With NDA projected to win about 200 seats, Nitish Kumar is set to become the chief minister for a record 10th time.

The election was about money power with about 42 per cent of the 2,600 contesting candidates reporting assets of over Rs 1 crore, while five candidates declared assets of over Rs 100 cr.

Here is a list of top five richest candidates and how the fared in the election.

Ran Kaushal Pratap Singh

Contesting with a Vikassheel Insaan Party ticket from Lauriya seat, Singh reported assets of over Rs 368 crore. According to his affidavit, he is a chemistry graduate from Magadh University and has two cases against him. Singh went down to by more than 26,000 votes against BJP's Vinay Bihari.

Nitish Kumar

The candidate from Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party has declared assets worth Rs 250 crore. The Gurua constituency candidate is a businessman with no recorded criminal cases. Kumar only managed to get little over a 1,000 votes and suffered a massive defeat to BJP's Upendra Prasad.

Kumar Pranay

Kumar Pranay contested from the Munger constituency with a BJP ticket and had declared assets worth Rs 170 crore. A businessman with an M.A degree, he has nine cases filed against his name. Pranay registered a comprehensive win by over 18,000 votes agianst RJD's Avinash Kumar Vidyarthi.

Raj Kishor Gupta

Gupta is an independent candidate contesting from the Maharajgunj seat. He had declared assets worth Rs 137 crore. The businessman has two pending cases against him and was trailing to JD(U)'s Hem Narayan Sah by over 50,000 votes, having garnered only about 1,000 votes.

Anant Kumar Singh

Anant Kumar Singh is one of the most controversial candidates, with more 28 cases registered against him. He was also jailed briefly but that did not affect his popularity. Singh contested from the Mokma constituency in Patna and had declared assets of Rs 100 crore. He pipped RJD's Veena Devi by more than 28,000 votes.
