New Delhi: Bihar Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Dilip Jaiswal on Monday alleged that the opposition Mahagathbandhan was “selling tickets for money” in the run-up to the Assembly elections and claimed that the alliance was riddled with internal discord over seat-sharing.

“The people of Bihar are witnessing the infighting within the Mahagathbandhan and how tickets are being sold for money. They have not even managed to finalise seat-sharing yet. How will they run a government,” Jaiswal said while addressing reporters in Patna.

The BJP leader’s comments come amid ongoing talks among Mahagathbandhan constituents including the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Congress, and Left parties over the distribution of seats.

Negotiations have reportedly been strained, with smaller allies demanding a larger share of constituencies and expressing dissatisfaction over the RJD’s dominant role in the alliance.

Jaiswal said the disunity within the opposition bloc reflected its inability to provide stable governance. “They are busy fighting over seats while the NDA is united and focused on development. The people of Bihar have seen what happens when such opportunistic alliances come to power,” he added.

The Mahagathbandhan has yet to announce its final list of candidates, even as the nomination process for several phases of polling has already begun. Senior leaders of the alliance, including RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav and Congress’s Akhilesh Prasad Singh, have been holding multiple rounds of discussions in Delhi and Patna to iron out differences.

Responding to the BJP’s charges, RJD leaders have dismissed the allegations as “baseless” and accused the ruling party of attempting to divert attention from issues such as unemployment and price rise. “The BJP has no real issues to talk about, so it is spreading rumours about the opposition,” an RJD spokesperson said.

Both the NDA and the Mahagathbandhan have intensified their campaigns across Bihar, with top leaders visiting constituencies, addressing rallies, and holding strategy meetings as the state heads for a high-stakes election battle.
