The Kerala Catholic Bishops' Council, a forum of the Catholic bishops of Kerala, has decided not to openly support any political party in Kerala during the Lok Sabha polls.

The council issued a circular on Tuesday stating that the Catholic church would not have any affiliation with any political party or candidates in the Lok Sabha polls.

It said it will not interfere in the political freedom of the members of the community. The church would stand with the poor and marginalised of the country and protect democracy, said the circular issued by the council president Archbishop Soosa Pakiam.
