New Delhi: Congress on Thursday questioned the development plans of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) and their "false propaganda and PR model" for Delhi, claiming that the world class infrastructure built by Sheila Dikshit now lies shattered and turned into "garbage".
While top leader Rahul Gandhi shared on Facebook a video montage highlighting issues such as inflation, unemployment, pollution and corruption, Congress Media and Publicity Department chairman Pawan Khera attacked Arvind Kejriwal over corruption and described AAP as "Alcohol Affected Party" with reference to allegations about liquor scam.
Rahul, who could not campaign in Delhi this week due to ill health, said in his post, "bad construction, dirt, inflation, unemployment, pollution and corruption - the truth of Delhi is in front of the public. Delhi now wants the same real development model of Sheila Dikshit-ji, not the false propaganda and PR model of Modi and Kejriwal."
Addressing a press conference at Delhi Congress office, Khera shared an audio clip in which AAP MLA Sharad Chauhan is allegedly saying that former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia told him to get into some deal with liquor companies and make money for his political work.
Chauhan was also heard purportedly saying in the audio, whose authenticity could not be verified independently, that if he had gone ahead with the plan, he would also have ended in jail.
"AAP is Alcohol Affected Party. A sitting MLA is exposing a senior (former) Cabinet Minister...Chauhan is heard saying in the audio that he told Sisodia that spreading liquor shops across Delhi would create trouble. Sisodia told him that for election, they need money," Khera claimed.
He said this has happened in a party led by a person who said he stood for clean politics. "Delhi does not need a liquor manager to handle the education sector," Khera said in apparent reference to Sisodia, who was handling the Excise and Education departments.
"We all know that alcohol is harmful for health and its addiction destroys the entire family. We all have seen how the addiction to earn money from alcohol destroyed an entire state. They have destroyed the world class infrastructure of Delhi and turned it into a pile of garbage," he alleged.
Earlier, Congress Treasurer Ajay Maken had on Wednesday accused the AAP government of corruption of Rs 382 crore in the healthcare sector.
