New Delhi: Free education for “needy” students, Rs 15,000 for youths to prepare for competitive exams, Rs ten lakh life insurance and Rs 5 lakh vehicle insurance for auto and taxi drivers and a Special Investigation Team to probe graft charges against AAP government are among a slew of promises unveiled by the BJP on Tuesday in its second part of manifesto.

The party also promised Scheduled Caste students a stipend of Rs 1,000 per month for pursuing technical and professional courses under 'Dr BR Ambedkar Stipend Scheme', a welfare board for domestic workers to provide them life insurance of Rs 10 lakh among other things.

AAP was quick to dismiss the promises as “dangerous” with its chief Arvind Kejriwal claiming that the BJP’s proposal restricts free education to only "needy" students and it is a "direct attack on Delhi’s education revolution" that currently benefits 18 lakh children.

Releasing the second part of the 'Sankalp Patra', senior MP Anurag Thakur said, "when we imagine a developed India, a developed Delhi has an important role in it. Our resolve is to make Delhi developed. We will complete this journey from resolve to accomplishment in the next five years."

He promised free education from kindergarten to post graduation will be provided to the needy students in the government educational institutions of Delhi. "Once our government is formed, we will provide financial assistance of Rs 15,000 to the youth of Delhi for preparing for competitive exams and will also reimburse two-time travel and application fees," he said.

The new promises include attempts to woo auto and taxi drivers as well as domestic workers, who are considered largely voters of AAP. For domestic workers, the BJP is promising accident insurance of Rs five lakh, scholarship for their children and six months paid maternity leave apart from Rs ten lakh life insurance.

"A zero tolerance policy will be adopted against the misgovernance and corruption of the AAP government and a SIT will be formed for investigation. Without any excuses or accusations, we will solve the problems of the citizens of Delhi with the cooperation of neighbouring states, MCD, NDMC and central government," he added.
