New Delhi: AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal on Monday unveiled the party's manifesto with 15 'Kejriwal ki Guarantee', including a promise to provide jobs for all unemployed and fulfilling earlier vows of cleaning Yamuna and constructing world class roads across the capital.
Almost all the 15 guarantees in the manifesto were announced at various occasions in the past around one month.
He claimed voting for the BJP would mean Delhiites adding a burden of an extra Rs 25,000 per month, as they would scrap the social welfare programmes.
"The BJP has already made it clear that they will stop all these schemes if they come to power. I want to ask the people of Delhi -- will you be able to bear the cost if the BJP stops these benefits?” he said.
“The BJP, Congress, and other parties make promises during elections, but they are just hollow slogans under different names. When we started using the term guarantee, they also began using it. But they have devalued the term guarantee. However, this is Kejriwal’s Guarantee, not Modi’s. This is a firm guarantee, not a hollow one like theirs,” he said.
Along with the 15 new guarantees, he said all the six 'freebies' -- free and 24X7 power, free water, free education, free pilgrimage for elderly, free bus ride for women and free treatment in government hospitals and mohalla clinics.
The first on the list was 'guarantee for jobs', promising that not a single person would remain in Delhi. "The national unemployment rate is around 6% while Delhi has the lowest at around 2 per cent. I consider all Delhiites my family and no one would like to see one of their family members not getting a job," he said.
The 'Mahila Samman Yojana' assuring monthly financial support of Rs 2,100 for women, free healthcare for elderly in government and private hospitals under the 'Sanjeevani Yojana' and waiving of inflated water bills and scholarship for Dalit and Adivasi students to pursue higher studies abroad under the Babasaheb Ambedkar Scholarship Yojana.
AAP has promised to improve the sewage system, issuing ration cards to those left out of the system and offering financial support to auto and cab drivers like Rs one lakh for their daughter's wedding, Rs 10 lakh life insurance and Rs five lakh accident insurance. The Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) will also receive funds to hire security guards, Kejriwal added.
He admitted that they have included three promises made in 2020, which they could not implement completely, in the new list. These are round-the-clock supply of clean drinking water to every Delhi household, clean Yamuna River and make Delhi’s roads world-class.
“The BJP, Congress, and other parties make promises during elections, but they are just hollow slogans under different names. When we started using the term guarantee, they also began using it. But they have devalued the term guarantee. However, this is Kejriwal’s Guarantee, not Modi’s. This is a firm guarantee, not a hollow one like theirs. (ENDS)
Delhi Assembly Election 2025 | The first of two state assembly polls this year sees a three-way contest between AAP, Congress, and BJP in the nation's capital. AAP decided to contest the polls alone, causing rumours of a rift in I.N.D.I.A. BJP, meanwhile, is hoping the liquor excise policy scam and pollution in Delhi will give the saffron party an edge over AAP. Kejriwal, on the other hand, has different plans with his demand for reservations for Delhi Jats. Congress will also be looking to make its presence felt and has not held back from attacking its own alliance partner.
