New Delhi: In the last five years, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi has added gold to her assets for the first time while foregoing a health insurance of Rs five lakh.

Her total assets have risen from Rs 59.79 lakh to Rs 76.93 lakh during this period, a mandatory affidavit submitted by Atishi while filing her nominations to fight Kalkaji seat on Tuesday has shown.

Her Congress rival Alka Lamba has also filed the nomination paper earlier in the day. Atishi could not file her nomination on Monday, as she could not complete her roadshow on time.

A comparison of Atishi’s election affidavits of 2020 and 2025 provides for interesting insight.

While she had presented herself as “daughter of Tripta Wahi”, a former Delhi University professor in the last affidavit, this time she has written as “daughter of Vijay Kumar Singh”.

Though there was no explanation, this comes after her BJP rival Ramesh Bidhuri had made a controversial comment that she has “changed her father” while referring to changing her surname. Atishi had emotionally responded to Bidhuri’s controversial remarks.

The latest affidavit also does not mention her spouse, whose assets worth Rs 81.42 lakh were mentioned in 2020.

According to the affidavit, Atishi has Rs 30,000 in hand, while she has savings accounts and fixed deposits in both SBI and ICICI Banks.

The addition to her assets is 10 grams of gold valued at Rs one lakh, the affidavit showed. A Rs five lakh health insurance issued by National Insurance Co Ltd is missing in the 2025 affidavit, showing that she does not have a personal health cover.

Also, Atishi has cases under sections related to criminal defamation, intentional insult, public mischief, promoting enmity between different groups and criminal conspiracy. One of the cases is filed in Manipur.

Prior to the 2020 elections, she was facing only a case of criminal defamation.
