New Delhi: Congress on Thursday launched two more guarantees – cooking gas cylinders at Rs 500 and a unique ration kit as well as 300 units of free power – for the Delhi Assembly elections, even as it continued its attack on AAP and BJP.

The party fielded Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to announce the two poll promises.

With this, Congress has announced five guarantees with the three others being Rs 2,500 per month for women, health insurance up to Rs 25 lakh for all and Rs 8,500 per month for a year for unemployed youth.

The two guarantees, Congress leaders said, help the common man fight price rise. Along with gas cylinders at Rs 500, ration kits promised by Congress would contain five kg rice, two kg sugar, one litre oil, six kg dal and 250 gram tea powder. Congress' promise of 300 units free power is an increase from the existing 200 units provided by the AAP government.

Addressing a press conference, Reddy launched an attack on both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal saying Delhi has become unlivable due to pollution and both of them have done nothing to solve the issue.

"Modi talks about sending people to the moon but he could not address the life-threatening air pollution in Delhi. He said that people now dread coming to Delhi, yet Modi and Kejriwal continue to make false promises to the people," he said.

He said Congress always fulfills the promise they make unlike the BJP and AAP, which make promises but do not fulfil them even when Modi and Kejriwal got three terms each and have not done anything to provide relief to people.

"Sonia Gandhi promised creation of Telangana. Congress suffered losses in Andhra Pradesh and even nationally but Congress kept its word," he said.

Reddy also claimed Congress threw out the "minor partner" in the liquor scam, BRS, from power in Telangana and now it is the turn of the people of Delhi to throw out the "major partner", Kejriwal, from power in Delhi.

"Congress government under Sheila Dikshit had carried out unprecedented developments, including creation of the largest metro rail network in the country, but Kejriwal only made false promises during his three tenures as the Chief Minister. There was political pollution, environment pollution and pollution of lies”, he said.
