New Delhi: Returning to Delhi campaign trail, top Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday launched a fresh attack on Arvind Kejriwal accusing him of being dishonest, presiding over liquor scam, the "biggest corruption" scandal in the capital and living in 'Sheesh Mahal' and issuing himself a certificate of honesty.

Rahul, who missed three campaign rallies last week owing to ill health, addressed two rallies in West Vinod Nagar in Patparganj constituency and Okhla constituency during the day where he attacked both Kejriwal and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In his speeches, he said Delhi has become unlivable due to rising pollution, price rise and unemployment among other things but both Modi and Kejriwal were not doing anything to provide relief to the people.

Days after AAP issued a poster in which the Congress leader among others was described as "dishonest" while hailing Kejriwal as honest, Rahul said, "who gives himself certificate of honesty. Honest people don't need to issue such certificates for themselves. It is the public who gives certificates to honest persons. They know who is honest."

In a further attack on the AAP chief while referring to Delhi riots, he said Kejriwal did not stand up for the minorities when hatred was spread in the capital and it was Congress, which stood up for them.

"Kejriwal says anything that comes to his mind. When he came, he had a small car and had said that he would do a new kind of politics, clean politics. He said he will change Delhi but when poor people were in need, he was not there, when riots happened he was not there," Rahul said.

"He said he will do clean politics, but in Delhi, the biggest corruption scandal, the liquor scam, happened. You must have seen the photo of his house. Kejriwal stays in a palace, 'Sheesh Mahal'. So this is the truth. Earlier, he used to climb electric posts, he used to talk about Jan Lokpal Bill. All's forgotten now. Now he is doing 'Sheesh Mahal-wali' politics," he said.

He said he was not aware of which all parties are scared of Modi but he is sure that Kejriwal shivers in front of the Prime Minister.

In his first election rally in Seelampur on January 13, Rahul launched a scathing attack on Kejriwal claiming that there is “no difference” between him and Modi in “propaganda and making false promises”. He also said both were silent on Adani, Caste Census and removal of 50 per cent quota cap.

Delhi Assembly Election 2025 | The first of two state assembly polls this year sees a three-way contest between AAP, Congress, and BJP in the nation's capital. AAP decided to contest the polls alone, causing rumours of a rift in I.N.D.I.A. BJP, meanwhile, is hoping the liquor excise policy scam and pollution in Delhi will give the saffron party an edge over AAP. Kejriwal, on the other hand, has different plans with his demand for reservations for Delhi Jats. Congress will also be looking to make its presence felt and has not held back from attacking its own alliance partner.
