New Delhi: Controversial BJP candidate Ramesh Bidhuri has once again landed in controversy with a sexist comment against Delhi Chief Minister and his electoral rival Atishi by describing her as someone "roaming the city like a doe".
At a rally in the capital, Bidhuri said in Hindi, "Delhiites are suffering in the streets of Delhi. Look at the condition of the roads. In the last four years, Atishi never came to meet the people and now when the elections are here, she is roaming on the streets of Delhi like a doe runs in the forest."
Responding to Bidhuri's latest remarks, AAP said in a statement, "If, by any chance, Ramesh Bidhuri were to become Chief Minister, imagine what kind of language he will use for the daughters and sisters of Delhi."
"Members of the Gaali Galoch Party have a long history of hurling insults at women -- be it in Parliament, abusing a Congress leader, targeting CM Atishi’s parents, and now, once again, resorting to such despicable language. The Gaali Galoch Party is anti-women and makes disgraceful comments about them," it added.
This is not the first time that Bidhuri had made sexist remarks against her. Earlier this month, he claimed that Atishi has "changed her father" while referring to the AAP leader changing her surname Marlena, to which she had emotionally responded.
In apparent response to this, Atishi had marked herself as daughter of Vijay Kumar Singh in her election affidavit this time, in contrast to mentioning her mother Tripta Wahi in her 2020 affidavit.
He had then said, "Kejriwal had claimed he would not form an alliance with the corrupt Congress. Atishi has changed her father. Earlier she was Marlena, now she is Singh. She has changed her father. This is their character.”
Atishi then emotionally responded, "I never thought that politics would stoop to this level. Bidhuri himself was MP for ten years from South Delhi and he should tell people what he has done for Kalkaji (which falls under South Delhi Lk Sabha constituency). He should tell people whether his ten years as MP or my five years as MLA was better for Kalkaji rather than abusing my old father. Seeking a vote by abusing my father is very sad."
Bidhuri had also attacked Priyanka Gandhi Vadra with contentious comments when he promised to make the roads of Kalkaji, the seat from which he is contesting against Atishi, like the Congress leader's "cheeks". He had then expressed regret over his comments on Priyanka and Atishi.
The former BJP MP is also known for making hate speeches. He had made communal slurs against then MP Danish Ali inside Lok Sabha during a discussion.
