The Delhi Assembly elections are around the corner, with polling scheduled for February 5 and counting for February 8.
Back in 2020, AAP had swept the polls, winning 62 out of 70 seats, which constitutes 89% of the total assembly seats, a comfortable majority. BJP secured eight seats.
AAP had also dominated the 2015 polls, winning 67 seats with the BJP winning only three.
Congress had drawn a blank in both 2020 and 2015, failing to get any support from Delhi voters.
Currently, the Delhi Assembly consists of 70 members, directly elected from 70 constituency seats. The tenure of the Legislative Assembly is five years unless dissolved sooner.
For a party to secure majority, they have to win 50 per cent plus one seat in the elections. This means that AAP needs to secure at least 36 seats in the Delhi Assembly Elections 2025 to form the government in the Capital again.
