New Delhi: AAP on Tuesday rebutted Rahul Gandhi’s allegation that Arvind Kejriwal did not speak about Gautam Adani and that he is ambivalent on the national caste census, saying the top Congress leader is now “propagating lies”.
Kejriwal told a press conference that he would not comment on Rahul as he is trying to save Congress but referred to BJP IT Cell chief Amit Malviya’s post on ‘X’ on the issue to allege that the secret alliance of BJP and Congress has now been exposed.
Tagging Kejriwal’s Monday night post that he would not comment on Rahul’s accusations at a rally and his aim is to save the country, Malviya had said, “worry about the country later, save your New Delhi seat now.”
Separately, AAP Rajya Sabha floor leader Sanjay Singh accused Rahul of “propagating lies” and said neither Kejriwal nor AAP needed the Congress leader’s certificate.
Asked about Rahul’s comments that Kejriwal was silent on Adani, Singh told a press conference, “is there a bigger joke than this? Rahul Gandhi is spreading lies. Kejriwal is one person who in this country has spoken most about Adani, whether it is in Assembly or streets.”
“Who raised the slogan "Modi-Adani bhai, bhai” slogan in Parliament in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi? It was AAP MPs who did that. It is interesting that Amit Malviya is responding to Kejriwal’s post to save Rahul Gandhi. What could be more ridiculous than this?” he said.
Kejriwal had in Delhi Assembly in 2023 said that Adani was Modi’s “front” in his financial dealings.
On the caste census, he asked when did AAP oppose the idea. Instead, he said, AAP had made several statements on the issue supporting it.
Rahul on Monday launched a scathing attack on Kejriwal claiming that there is “no difference” between him and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in “propaganda and making false promises”. He also said both were silent on Adani, caste census and removal of the 50% quota cap.
