The FIR was filed after the Flying Squad Team (FST) registered a complaint
over the post shared on April 23.

The FST submitted a copy of the post titled “Congress Manifesto or Muslim League Manifesto?”, for police reference.

The Malleswaram police have invoked IPC 153A in the FIR, which deals with promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc, and doing acts prejudicial to the maintenance of harmony.

In addition, the police have also invoked Section 125 of the Representation of the People Act, which deals with promoting enmity between classes in connection with elections. The post by the BJP said: “The Congress’ sinister designs are clear: to take away the hard-earned money of Indians and to gift it to Muslims.”

“They will seize our land, wealth, and rights, only to gift them to ‘Peacefuls’,” continued the post.

“In fact, CM @siddaramaiah has already started ‘Wealth Distribution’ to Muslims by taking away SC/ST funds.”
