Yogi Adityanath started his political career by initially joining the SFI, but later shifted to the ABVP (the student wing of the RSS) due to a difference in values.
In 1988, he became a parliamentarian at the age of 26, and was already a prominent name in the Gorakhpur Mutt, where he was referred to as 'Chota Mahant.'
During the run-up to the 2017 elections, Adityanath had not even been portrayed as a star campaigner for the BJP.
This time around, Adityanath began making a reputation for himself with his notably anti-Muslim rhetoric.
Despite BJP's recent shortcomings and turmoil in the state, he is projected to grace the CM's seat once again in what is probably the country's most crucial election, given that UP is a bellwether state.
