A teeming Vindhya region in poll-bound Madhya Pradesh

The Vindhya region of Madhya Pradesh, which has 30 Assembly seats out of a total of 230, could once again prove decisive in determining the final tally in the November polls, with both BJP and Congress finalising their candidates as the election enters the last lap.

The Vindhya region comprises seven districts — Rewa (8 seats), Satna (7), Sidhi (4), Shahdol (3), Anuppur (3), Singrauli (3) and Umaria (2).

JD(U) names five candidates for MP Assembly polls

The JD(U) on Tuesday came out with a list of five candidates for assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, where its ally Congress is trying to wrest power from the BJP.

According to a statement of JD(U) national general secretary Afaq Ahmed Khan, the list is the 'first' for the central state where voting will take place for all 230 seats on November 17.

Election work 'going well', Congress confident of victory in all five states: Kharge

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday said that elections' work in the five poll-bound states is "going well" and that the party is confident of victory in all the five states.

"The five state elections' work is going on well...We are confident that we will win all five states...There is anti-incumbency for BJP. People are annoyed due to inflation & unemployment. BJP did not meet any of its promises...Ashok Gehlot and Bhupesh Baghel are doing good work in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh. There are no issues there. There are problems in MP due to Shivraj Singh Chouhan. People are against him. So, we expect to bring our Government in all the five states and everything will be fine."

I sent a report to Kamal Nath that we can leave 4 seats for them (SP)... I also asked the Central Leadership in the working committee meeting what relation should we have with the I.N.D.I.A bloc... They left it up to the state leadership... I.N.D.I.A bloc will contest the Lok Sabha elections together but in the state elections, we have different issues... Akhilesh is a very honest person. He is educated, and he is handling the party and the family... I don't know where the discussion went wrong but Kamal Nath wanted to reach an agreement with complete honesty. Friendly fights happen in alliances..."
