New Delhi: Three persons on Thursday filed nominations for the Vice Presidential election on the first day of submitting papers, but all were rejected owing to deficiencies in the documents.

Tamil Nadu resident K Padmarajan, Delhi-based Jeevan Kumar Mittal and Naidugar Rajasekhar from Andhra Pradesh submitted their nominations, the Office of the Returning Officer said. The Election Commission notified the elections on Thursday morning.

Padmarajan and Mittal deposited Rs 15,000 as per provisions but their nominations were rejected as the certified copy of the electoral roll of the Parliamentary constituency in which they were voters had been certified prior to the issue of notification of the election.

Rajasekhar’s certified copy of electoral roll was not certified by the Electoral Registration Officer. He also did not deposit R 15,000 required to be submitted along with the nomination.
