Speaking at the induction ceremony at the party office here, Sumalatha said she’s deeply inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, “Modi is perhaps the only leader in the country who walks the talk. I joined the BJP despite knowing that I would not be fielded from Mandya only because I had complete faith in Modi’s leadership. Modi will empower the nation with his vision and commitment,” she said.

The actor-turned-politician thanked former BJP chief ministers B S Yediyurappa, Basavaraj Bommai and D V Sadanada Gowda for their cooperation and helping her in developing Mandya and recognising her efforts to re-opening Mysugar factory in the district.

Former Koppal MP S Shivaramegouda also returned to the party on Friday.

Lavishing praise on Sumalatha and former MP Shivarame Gouda, Vijayendra said Sumalatha and Gouda’s entry into BJP will strengthen the party in Mandya and Koppal districts respectively.

The BJP state president asserted that the “craze” for PM Modi has reached “unprecedented levels” and that it will help the party win all 28 Lok sabha seats in the state.
