Mumbai: The BJP-led alliance seems to be heading for taking control in majority of the 29 municipal corporations in Maharashtra including the financial capital of Mumbai though the Thackeray brothers are giving a big fight.
As trends poured in the elections to the BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the BJP is leading in 34 places while its ally Eknath Shinde in 12.
The Shiv Sena (UBT) is leading in 19 places while MNS in nine.
The Congress is leading in five places.
The BMC has 227 electoral wards.
In Navi Mumbai, the BJP has established a lead while in Thane, which is the bastion of Shinde, the Shiv Sena is leading though the gap is less.
In neighbouring Panvel, the BJP is clearly leading.
In Vasai-Virar, the Hitendra Thakur led Bahujan Vikas Aghadi is leading in 85 places as against BJP’s 24.
In Kolhapur, the BJP is leading in 22 while Congress in 26.
In Jalgaon, the BJP is leading.
In Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad, the BJP is leading against the last-minute alliance of Ajit Pawar-led NCP and Sharad Pawar-led NCP (SP).
In Nagpur, which is the hometown of Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, the BJP has established a big lead.
In Nashik, the pilgrimage capital of the state and Solapur, the spiritual capital, the BJP is leading the tallies.
