Drawing a parallel between Mahatma Gandhi’s Quit India movement against the British and her fight against Prime Minister Narendra Modi West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday said that Modi should be ousted from power.
"Mahatma Gandhi led the Quit India movement and today we are raising the slogan ‘Modi stop the fascism and leave," said Banerjee. She was addressing an election rally at Debra in West Bengal’s West Medinipur district.
She accused the BJP of creating an emergency-like situation in the country. “Everyone is scared of him (Modi) and afraid to express their own opinion. Such fascism must be stopped,” said Banerjee.
Urging people to vote BJP out of power, the TMC supremo said that if Modi returns to power again he will amend the Constitution and there will be no more elections in future.
“It is time to show the door to Modi and democratically bury this government,” said Banerjee.
Accusing the Prime Minister of making false promises, Banerjee said the minorities and tribals lived in constant fear due to attacks on them.
“Modi promised ache din. But instead, people are suffering due to the surging prices of petrol and diesel. The minorities are living in fear because of attacks on them,” said Banerjee.
