Apparently upset over prime minister Narendra Modi's attack on her over her party's continued to support to the Congress' Rajasthan government despite the Alwar gang-rape incident, BSP supremo Mayawati on Monday said that Modi had no ''respect'' for the women as he had ''abandoned'' his wife for ''political gain''.

In a statement here, Mayawati also said that wives of the BJP leaders did not want their husbands to go near Modi as they feared that the latter might get them to abandon their wives also.

''BJP does not respect women...Modiji abandoned his wife for political interests.....if Modi can abandon his wife for personal gain, how can he be expected to give justice to the mothers and sisters of the country,'' the BSP supremo said.

''I have come to know that married women in the BJP do not want their husbands to go near Modiji as they fear that the latter may persuade them to leave their wives,'' she said.

Mayawati also attacked Modi for ''maintaining silence'' on the Alwar gang-rape incident. ''Modiji turned a blind eye on the atrocities on the Dalits at Una in Gujarat,'' she added.

The BSP supremo hinted that her party could consider withdrawing its support to the Rajasthan government over Alwar gang-rape incident.

Modi had on Sunday said that Mayawati was shedding ''crocodile tears'' over the gang-rape incident. ''She (Mayawati) continues to support the Congress government in Rajasthan,'' the prime minister had said.
