Srinagar, May 23 (DHNS): While conceding defeat in Lok Sabha elections, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president and former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Mehbooba Mufti on Thursday said the people of the state have every right to be angry with her and that she accepts the verdict with humility.

“I’ve been fortunate to get the love & affection of my people. They have every right to express their anger for my failings. Accept their verdict with humility. Congratulations to winning candidates from NC. I’m grateful to my party workers & colleagues,” Mehbooba tweeted after her party got routed in Kashmir.

While National Conference won all three seats in Kashmir Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged victorious in Jammu, Udhampur and Ladakh Lok Sabha segments.

Mehbooba herself trailed behind National Conference’s Hasnain Masoodi and Congress’ Ghulam Ahmad Mir in the Anantnag seat.

She also congratulated the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance for its landslide victory. “Congratulations to Narendra Modi ji for a historic mandate,” she said. “Today surely belongs to BJP and its allies.

She also suggested that the Congress party needs someone with the capabilities like BJP chief Amit Shah.
