West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday said that her phone was being tapped. She further alleged that the BJP was involved in the conspiracy as the saffron party was outmatched by her in relation to campaigning on development issues.

The development comes a day after an audiotape surfaced where she can be purportedly heard telling TMC district president in Cooch Behar to hold rallies with the bodies of those who died in firing by the CISF. DH could not independently verify the authenticity of the audio clip.

“They (BJP) seems to be tapping my phone calls. I will order a CID probe. No one will be spared. I have already know who is behind this,” said Mamata.

Addressing a rally at Galsi in East Bardhaman district, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo further alleged that a section of the Central forces was also involved with it along with some agents.

“Even as they are denying, it is clear that the BJP is behind all this,” said Mamata. The TMC has earlier dubbed the tape as “bogus.”

She slammed the Election Commission (EC) for not clubbing the three remaining phases of the Assembly elections amid surging Covid-19 cases and accused it of acting according to BJP’s demands.

“You have shortened campaigning hours and under the guise of Covid restrictions doing whatever the BJP is telling you,” said Mamata.
