West Bengal Assembly polls: Only 15% of Bengal MLAs are women

West Bengal will go to Assembly polls starting on March 27.

The state, with a 294-member strong Legislative Assembly, will go to polls in eight phases — the highest number of all four states and one UT going to polls.

Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) analysed the gender balance of MLAs in West Bengal. Out of 282 MLAs analysed, only 41 (15%) MLAs are women and 241 MLAs are men.
