New Delhi: They were arch enemies on screen, but Baazigar co-stars Shah Rukh Khan and Dalip Tahil once played on the same cricket team in the 1990s and emerged victorious.
In an Instagram throwback on Saturday, Tahil shared a never-before-seen picture from the award ceremony of a celebrity match in Sharjah, the UAE, which also had the likes of Shah Rukh, Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, Satish Shah, and Sheeba as players of the winning team.
In the black-and-white photo, Chakraborty can be seen holding the trophy high as other team members grinned from ear to ear.
"SRK and I weren’t just Baazigars on screen, we brought the game to the field of Sharjah too. I scored 86* (not out), won the match, and if memory serves me right… took home a VCR. Who else can you recognize in this iconic frame? #goldtimes #90snostalgia (sic)" Tahil captioned his post, referring to the 1993 superhit "Baazigar".
The actor played the villainous Madan Chopra who usurps the business of Ajay Sharma (Shah Rukh)'s father, leaving the family penniless and destroyed. Years later, Ajay seeks revenge and returns as an alias Vicky to take back what once rightfully belonged to him.
Directed by Abbas-Mustan, Baazigar also starred Kajol and marked the acting debut of Shilpa Shetty Kundra.
