The Tamil remake of Telugu superhit film ‘Arjun Reddy’ directed by ace filmmaker Bala will be reshot completely with a new director and released in June, the makers of the film announced on Thursday.

Titled ‘Varmaa’, the film was being directed by Bala with Dhruv Vikram, son of noted Tamil actor Vikram, in the lead role. However, the makers of the film, E4 Entertainment, said on Thursday that they were unhappy with the final version of the remake.

Though Bala will be out of the film, Dhruv will continue to play the lead role in the reshot movie as well. Sources said the decision was taken due to the fallout between Bala and the producers of the film who did not like the changes made to the Tamil version.

“We, at E4 Entertainment, are not at all happy with the final version handed over to us and due to various creative and other differences, we have decided not to release this version. Instead, we will start afresh, and shoot a new version of ‘Arjun Reddy’ with Dhruv as the main lead staying true to the soul and intention of the original,” said a statement from E4 Entertainment.

‘Arjun Reddy’ was a runaway success in Telugu. The decision by the producers is significant since the movie has been completely shot and was slated for release in February, which has since been postponed.
