Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan said that though in some of his films he was shown fighting with the tigers but in real life he would love to fight for the tigers. He opined that awareness is the key to save the endangered feline.
Bachchan was in Ranthambore National Park located in Sawai Madhopur district of Rajasthan on Sunday as part of the Save theTiger campaign to spread the message of tiger conservation and meet villagers who have been shifted out of the park.
He said “To increase awareness we should talk about it more often to make the effort more popular”. He said, last year the campaign was able to mobilise Rs 4.5 crore. The money was utilized to mobilise 40 rapid response units in the tiger reserves for the protection of the feline saying that there is no dearth of money for good causes.
Bachchan talked to BJP president Nitin Gadkari through video conferencing to rope in the support of his party's chief ministers in the campaign. Gadkari in turn promised all support to the campaign at his personal and party level.
The 69-year-old actor arrived at famous Ranthambre National Park on Saturday after a long gap of 27 years and discussed tiger conservation issues with the experts.
He heard the villager’s problems after reloation and assured them of taking it to the state and central government’s notice. Villagers from Moar Doongri and Hindwaad village met the actor and got many pictures clicked with him.
Bachchan said that efforts to protect the big cat are on the right track but there are still more serious efforts needed.
