Yet another legal notice has allegedly been sent to actor Nayanthara, this time by the makers of the Tamil film Chandramukhi for using 'unauthorised' clips from the movie.
However, some reports including that by The Times Of India suggests that the Chandramukhi makers have not, in fact, sent a notice to Nayanthara and they also, reportedly, granted the permission to the actor, to use the clips.
This later update came after actor Chitra Lakshmanana, who on his YouTube channel gives various updates on cinema, claimed that the makers of Chandramukhi are 'unhappy' with the use of movie clips in the documentary, as per the TOI report.
Chandramukhi is a 2005 released Tamil film that stars Nayanthara alongside Rajinikanth, Jyothika, and Prabhu.
Earlier, Wunderbar Films owned by popular Tamil actor Dhanush had filed a civil suit against Nayanthara, her husband Vignesh Sivan, and their production company Rowdy Pictures Private Limited for using footage from the 2015 film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan in her documentary film Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale without permission.
The civil suit came after Nayanthara, in an open letter, accused Dhanush, the producer, of harbouring “personal grudge” against her by pointing to his action of not permitting her to use clippings from the 2015 film in her documentary.
Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale is a documentary on the life, acting career and the famous 2022 wedding of Nayantara with Shivan, a film director, which is being streamed on Netflix.
Now as per multiple reports, a legal notice has been sent to Nayanthara and a demand of Rs 5 crore for including clips from the film Chandramukhi that violates copyright rules. The filmmakers are said to have been told to remove the clips from her documentary.
Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairy Tale, the documentary film, dives into the life of the actor from her modest beginnings to the heights of her illustrious career across different industries in the South and Hindi.
The film explores a never-before-seen side of the actor, who has kept her life private for many years.
